Guest Star: Sean Lawson, Toffee

Sean sent me the link to this recipe: Saltine Toffee Candy Recipe. Then he walked me home from work, and bought saltines from the corner store so we can make it. And then he did most of it himself! He's the best!
Shall we begin?

Ingredients:
  • 1 and 1/2 sleeves of saltine crackers
  • 1 stick of butter
  • 1 cup packed brown sugar
  • 2 cups (aprox.) chocolate chips

Step 1: Preheat the oven to 350 degrees, line a baking sheet with foil and spray it with PAM (bam!)
Step 2: Line the baking sheet with saltines laid edge to edge, like so:
Step 3: Place the butter and brown sugar in a sauce pan over med. high heat and stir as it comes to a boil. Once boiling, pour carefully (HOT SUGAR) and quickly (it gets hard fast), over the saltines.

Step 4: Place in the oven for 5 mins. (or until the toffee is bubbling all over).
Step 5:  Pull it out and let rest for a minute. Sprinkle the chocolate chips over top and let them get nice and melllllllty... spread the chocolate around.
Step 6: Sprinkle crushed up saltines and chopped up nuts (if you have them) on top of the melted chocolate.
This is art.
Step 7: Put it in the fridge, and wait until it solidifies... about 30  min? Watch some arrested development, it makes the time go faster.
Take it out of the fridge, break it into li'l pieces (shards) and enjoy! This is the perfect combo of salty and sweet... taking the chocolate covered pretzel in a different direction. Store it in the fridge in a tupperware so it doesn't get funky.
