Warm Weather Comfort Food

In the midst of finals currently, which is only partially to blame for my lack of posting (the other 79% is my debilitating laziness). Kate and I took advantage of the beyond beautiful weather and took a little stroll down to Whole Foods which is always very inspiring in the food department and depressing in the wallet department (and annoying in the other people shopping there department: side note, last time we were there we found out the salsa aisle is also the baby food aisle and this woman was filling an ENTIRE SHOPPING cart with baby food).
So, a dinner made up of my favorite warm weather and all weather foods:
Corn on the cob
Bread
Olive oil with stuff in it
Mozz
Olives

 Corn on the cob!
Before
After!
Okay kids, that's it! Dinner is ready and mom is drunk!
Just kidding. Take the stuff off the outside, in the biz we call this "shucking", make sure to get all the "silk" off (My, what nice blond hair you have). You really don't need to boil the corn in a whole big pot of water, in my opinion it's a lot better when you just steam it.
Do it thusly:
1. Remove husks and silk from corn, chop off the weird stem, rinse it off.
2. Put the corn in a pot with about 2 or 3 inches of salted water in it. Get them babies boiling then you can turn the heat down to medium and just let it hang out with the lid on for six minutes or so.
3. Voila! Butter, salt, pepper etc. Perfectly cooked corn - sweet but not mushy.
Make sure to bring floss!
I'm currently petitioning the state to marry this cob of corn, wish me luck xox

And now the segment of tonight's dinner brought to you by my "heritage":
You'll need:
Some decent olive oil (or not, I never really use high quality ingredients and LOOK AT ME)
Some mozzarella
A loaf of nice bread (this is where it would be worth upgrading)
Olives!

My favorite "stuff" to put in olive oil:
- basil
-"italian seasonings"
-garlic
- crushed red pepper
- salt and pepper
put all this in a dish and drizzle some olive oil in. The farther ahead of time that you can make this the better because the flavors will have a chance to do that thing they do (blend? meld? intensify? idk). Thickly slice some bread, cut up the mozzarella, put the olives in a dish....

And here is a picture of Kate being really proud of the fridge:
Strawberry milk and box wine are the cornerstone to a healthy diet.
